LOS ANGELES ARCHITECTURE - DETAILED PICTURES

For those of your who love detail and ornamentation on classic Los Angeles buildings as much as I do, I dug up my old Minolta camera in the garage with a telephoto lens. Hopefully, the photos below will give you the flavor of a lost time in Los Angeles before buildings became mirrored boxes with no soul.  I'm not sure why in the past there was the time, money and skill to make sculptured buildings and classic neon and today the art is all but lost. But fortunately, much of this heritage remains in Los Angeles. Once again, click on pictures to expand and hit the return arrow to go back. They load very slowly, but I didn't have the heart to compress them any further.

Have you seen anything like this on a modern building? The Chinese theater and the Elks Lodge.

Above photos are downtown Los Angeles - the Eastern Columbia Building, the United Artist Movie Palace (now a church), three pictures of the old Pacific Coast Stock Exchange, and the Los Angeles Theater Movie Palace (and a Westlake/Wilshire Center Picture of the Elks Lodge).
