Marcel & Jeanne's French Cafe

E. Lopez provides this excellent information:

Marcel & Jeanne's French Cafe is located on the corner of Whittier Blvd and 22nd St in Montebello, and was sort of a French version of Musso & Frank . It had several themed dining rooms and bars with murals on the upper walls similar to the Musso and Frank Grill, but with images of the French countryside. Our family would have Sunday dinner here and the spiffy old servers wore the same type of red suits as Musso and Frank's.

My grandfather was good friends with the maître d' as they both came from the same Catalan region of northern Spain near the French border. The menu was similar to Taix in Los Angeles, but the quality was much better. Attached is a photo of the abandoned building. It closed around the late 70s-early 80s if I recall correctly, but the structure still stands in a sad state of disrepair. I wish someone would resurrect this neat old gem one day!

Mona Lisa Restaurant and Cafe

Collection of Kathleen B. According to her the building housing the original location still stands.

3343 Wilshire Blvd. (at Catalina), Los Angeles, California  opposite the Ambassador Hotel. This apparently was started by the relatives of the owners of Musso and Frank Grill (Frank Balzano and Mrs. Rina Mosso). The first location was on 2534 W. 7th St. Los Angeles California. It was devastated by a fire and rebuilt, with it's famous Mona Lisa reproduction surviving the blaze.

Some excellent detective work by Kathleen B. reveals that the building that housed the first Mona Lisa still exists:
